Basky Forever is the only paid thing in Basky, and it is proudly not the product. The product is the calm sun loop. Forever is wardrobe.
If you are allergic to “free trial then subscribe,” you are in the right place. The safe-sun window, UV index readout, safe sun timer, vitamin D estimate, daylight streak, and Sunshine Circles are free forever. Forever the unlock is optional pixel joy.
Buying guide energy: sun app no subscription. Tour: how Basky works.
What Basky Forever unlocks
The Sunshine Pack — Basky’s wardrobe of pixel skins — and future cosmetic extras in the same spirit. Looks. Delight. Visual personality for your bask companion. Not minutes. Not UV accuracy. Not streak length. Not Circles seats.
If removing Forever from the app would still leave a complete daylight habit, the pricing line is drawn correctly. That is the test Basky uses.
What stays free (the actual product)
- Live UV via Open-Meteo when location is allowed, with an honest fallback if you decline.
- Fitzpatrick-personalized windows aimed at about 60% of a MED, clamped roughly 5–90 minutes.
- A timer that refuses to reward over-exposure.
- A friendly vitamin D estimate capped with the same safe dose — never a lab result.
- Daylight check-ins and a streak that forgives weather.
- Circles that share a first name and sun-day signal only.
- Optional Apple Health write of Time in Daylight only.
MED references (J/m²) the engine respects: I 200, II 250, III 350, IV 450, V 600, VI 1000. Illustration only: UV 5 might suggest ~29 minutes for a mid type — skin and sky decide. None of that math is a Forever exclusive.
Why one-time instead of monthly
Daily outdoor tools should not expire when a trial ends. Subscriptions make sense for ongoing server-heavy products some people choose. Basky’s core is an on-device ritual with optional weather lookup. Renting the timer would be a category error — and a trust error.
Forever is buy-once cosmetics with restore through Apple. Basky never sees your card. Family Sharing is part of the unlock design where the App Store supports it.
What Forever will never be allowed to mean
- A paywall on sunscreen-honest safety messaging.
- A longer window for paying users (that would be unethical).
- A pack sold as a color goal sold as “go darker faster.”
- An account requirement to “activate” the purchase against a Basky login — there is no Basky login.
- A quiet future conversion into a subscription on the wellness loop.
Privacy stays the same whether you pay or not
No ads either way. No tracking stack that treats Forever buyers as a hotter lead. Location remains optional. Circles remain minimal. Health remains write-only duration. Paying for skins does not buy Basky permission to know more about you. See private sun app.
How to decide
Buy Forever if you like dressing the pixel companion and want to support the free core. Skip it if cosmetics are not your thing — you still get the whole sun habit. Either choice is complete.

Why cosmetics and safety must not mix
If paid skins ever quietly lengthened windows, the trust model would collapse. Basky draws a hard line: money buys looks, never dose. The Exposure Engine does not check your receipt. Fair skin still gets short windows on harsh days. Deeper skin still gets personalization without myths of invincibility. The free safe sun timer still aims for about 60% of a MED with a five-to-ninety-minute clamp.
Supporting an unpaid core
Optional Forever purchases help a free ritual exist without ads. That is the economic story told plainly. You are not the product; skins are the optional product. Decline Forever and you are not a second-class basker — live UV, streaks, Circles, and the vitamin D estimate remain fully available.
Restore, Family Sharing, and Apple’s rails
Purchases run through Apple. Restore uses standard StoreKit flows on your Apple ID. Basky never sees card numbers. Family Sharing support is part of the unlock design where Apple permits it. If restore fails, Apple’s purchase history tools are the first stop; andrewkittridge@icloud.com can help with product-side confusion.
What “future cosmetic extras” means
Forever is meant to cover the Sunshine Pack and later cosmetic extras in the same spirit — wardrobe, visual delight — not a bait-and-switch into feature paywalls. The commitment language on this page and in the FAQ is intentional: free core forever.
Ethical non-goals
Forever will not sell “extreme UV mode,” “streak freeze subscriptions,” or “unlock medical insights.” Those phrases are incompatible with Basky’s brief. It also will not sell looks sold as a color goal as a health claim. Skins are play; the sun loop is wellness with a cap.
How Forever sits beside privacy
Paying does not create an account. Paying does not enable tracking. Paying does not widen Circles data. Paying does not change Apple Health from write-only Time in Daylight. See private sun app.
